Gillingham's 1-1 draw with Accrington last weekend was their second game without a defeat, they have now lost just two of their last eight games.
League leaders Walsall had the option to call this match off with four players out on international duty but due to fixture pile up they decided to go ahead with the game.
Walsall have struggled dramatically in recent weeks and have failed to win in their last five games and only won two of their last twelve games, the promotion pack are closing in on them and despite being fifteen points clear in January they are at risk of missing out on promotion altogether.
Gillingham have failed to win in their last nine home games against Walsall, with seven ending in a draw.
